September 19 - October 2 Includes live Wimba session on Sunday, September 25 1 CEU Continuing Education Credit Prerequisites(s): Successful completion of OTL 101 or approval by the college director of OTC Online. This course builds on OTL 101 with a focus on best practices for the delivery of online courses. The course emphasizes the importance of instructor presence and interaction with students in the course environment, with attention to building an online community of learners. Featured topics include techniques for engaging students in online discussions and collaboration, and methods for providing timely individualized feedback for students. This is a two-week anychronous course that is delivered fully online via Blackboard, and includes a one-hour live Wimba conference on Sunday evening that will be archived. Participants who successfully complete this course will be able to: Describe the relationship between instructor presence and student learning in online courses. Effectively facilitate discussion forums to promote student engagement. Design collaborative activities for small groups. Offer feedback that encourages mastery of course objectives. Develop individual pathways for student learning. This course is two weeks long and earns OTC employees 1 CEU of Professional Development.
